This week we have been looking at the book ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers.
In the story the characters travel across the sea in a boat.
We have been looking at things that float and things that sink. The children looked at a variety of different objects and predicted whether or not they would float. They thought about the size, shape, weight and material and how this would effect it’s ability to float.
We discovered that wood floats. We also discovered that the shape can make a difference. The children had a go at making their own boats for the characters in the story. They used Lego and other resources, testing them in the water tray and making adjustments to make them float as well as possible.
Well done for another week. We look forward to our Easter celebrations next week!
