This week has been Maths week and the children have been learning about money.
We looked at different coins and noticed the numbers on them showing their value. We noticed that there is not a coin for every number!
We talked about needs and wants and discussed how sometimes we can’t buy everything so have to decide what are the most important things. Some things we need to live and other things are just nice to have.
All the children enjoyed wearing their own ‘maths themed clothes’ and understood that this made a lot of money for the charity NSPCC.
This week in Nursery we have been focusing on the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have made goat masks and looked at comparing the different sizes of the goats. The children found this interesting, so we decided to look at the different size of some of the children in the class, putting them in order from biggest to smallest.
As part on National Story telling week, we have been very lucky to have some guest story tellers come in and visit us in Nursery. We had Lily’s, James’, Fionn & Ciaran’s and Lottie’s Grandma, Jessica’s Grandpa, who came all the way from Southend, and Abigail’s mummy. The children were very engaged in all the new stories they heard, some stories as old as Mrs Pham!
Sadly, we said goodbye to Mr. Hodgeson today. The children all drew him a picture and we made him a card. The children all asked him to visit soon and wished him good luck in his next adventure.
