This week in Reception we have enjoyed celebrating both Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
We started our new learning for this half term with a wonderful visit from Lorenzo’s Mum (Class RC) on Shrove Tuesday. She taught the children about the traditional celebrations and customs by Italian people, including teaching the children the reason why people wear masks and how they celebrate at carnivals.
The children then celebrated by eating homemade castang (a little like small sweet doughnuts)- which they thought were delicious!
They also made their own carnival masks and by dancing and playing with streamers outside.
Welcome back to all the Nursery children. We have had a short but fun first week back.
This week the children have been learning about WILD ANIMALS, and how they are different from pets. We made wild animal masks and roared around the class like Lions and stomped about like Elephants.
We had another wonderful trip to our school library on the upper site. Thank you again to our parent volunteers, we couldn’t do this without your support.
In PE today the children were learning a new game: ‘pirate ship’- it is an old game but new to our class. We used this as a warm-up before playing some team games. We have some very competitive children coming through the school!
Finally, the hairdressers have come to Nursery. The children are experimenting, with different combs and hairbands.
Well done for our first week of Spring 2 Early Years!
