In English, the children have begun their topic of writing instructions. We have recognised that they are written in the present tense, they include imperative (bossy) verbs and they are commands that are written in chronological order. There are links about instructions here:
Imperative verbs include: put; push; pull; write; climb; jump; turn. To check is a word is an imperative verb, often, the words: ‘I can’ are put in front of it, and it still makes sense. For example: I can run. I can turn. I put. Links about instructions:
Time conjunctions we have included are: first; next; then; after that; while; finally

In R.E. the main events have been Lent and Ash Wednesday. As part of Lent, we have thought about what good deeds we could do for others and are trying to achieve at least one a day. In science, we have been looking at different types of materials and how they behave. This time, the focus was on finding out which types of material bounced highest when dropped from a metre. Next week is Science Week – an opportunity to focus on this fantastic subject.
We have just started our history topic of castles and we are looking to the visit to Mount Fitchet Castle on March 21st which will be fun and help take our learning forward.
Coming soon: Time (in maths) Instructions (in English) Materials and their properties (in science); Castles (in history) Class Assembly is on Friday, March 14th around 9:05. It would be great if the children could practise the lines for then.
