From Pond Dipping to Building Dreams - A busy week in Nursery!
The last two weeks in Nursery has been full of exciting learning, exploration and opportunities for the children to grow in confidence across a range of activities. In Physical Education, we have been focusing on developing our ball skills, particularly how to control a ball using our hands. The children explored different ways of handling balls, including rolling, catching, throwing and stopping them with control. Through partner games and structured activities, they began to understand how to move their bodies to guide the ball and improve coordination. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they practised, supported one another and celebrated their successes. In Religious Education, we have been using a variety of building resources to explore the concept of what heaven might look and feel like. The children used their imaginations to construct their own representations, thinking carefully about colours, shapes and objects that made them feel happy, calm and safe. This activity encouraged thoughtful discussion, creativity and reflection, with the children sharing their ideas and explaining their creations to their peers whilst always sharing and working together. Our Science learning took us outdoors this week for a pond dipping experience. The children were incredibly excited to explore the pond for the first time and discover what lives beneath the water. Using nets and trays, they carefully collected and observed different pond creatures. A highlight of the session was finding a newt, which sparked lots of curiosity and questions. The children enjoyed looking closely at the creatures and learning about their habitats, showing great care and respect for the environment. We have also continued to develop our communication and language skills through regular show and tell sessions. This has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to share something special with the class, whether it be an object, a story or an experience. These sessions are helping to build confidence, oracy and listening skills. The children are becoming more comfortable speaking in front of others, asking questions and responding thoughtfully to what their friends have shared.
Overall, it has been a busy and enriching week in Nursery. The children have demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to try new things. We are very proud of how they are developing not only their skills but also their confidence and independence.
