Final week 16.7.26
Year 1 - What a super week!
Last week, the current Year 1’s had a fabulous transition day with their new Year 2 teachers, Mrs. Tennant and Mrs. Pham. Their new teachers complimented all the children on how ready they were for Year 2; their ability to follow instructions, work independently and how polite they all were. We now need to let them move onto their next chapter in life.
This week has been a busy week; on Monday we invited Grandparents in to share their experiences from when they were children at school. Thank you also to those that posted videos on Google Classroom. This was excellent first-hand experience for the children and brought our history topic to life. We also learnt about the foundation of SSAS school and how children were taught in the past at this school. The children asked the grandparents some very interesting questions.
Also on Monday, the children had a visit from the Public Library Service, encouraging the children to sign-up for the Summer Reading Challenge. A leaflet has been shared with you. It is a great way to encourage reading throughout the summer and it is all free.
Then on Tuesday we enjoyed our postponed Sports Day. The children thoroughly enjoyed their races and games and were extremely competitive. Each child received a medal for taking part and a 20% off voucher for Game On, so do please take advantage of their summer camps. Thank you for coming along and cheering the children.
This will be the last news update from Year 1 this academic year. We finish school on Tuesday 21st at 1:20pm and the children will start Year 2 on Thursday 3rd September. Thank you for all your support with your child’s learning, it has been a great year!
Wishing all our families a fantastic summer break.
Thank you from the Year 1 Team.
