Year 4 Half Term: A Whirlwind of Learning
How has this half‑term flown by so quickly? It feels as though we only just returned from our last break, and yet here we are, already preparing for the final half‑term holiday of the school year. Perhaps time has slipped by because our days have been so wonderfully full.
In English, we’ve been diving into The Iron Man, letting our imaginations run wild as we invented creatures of our own. The stories produced by our 8‑ and 9‑year‑olds have been nothing short of extraordinary - creative, bold, and brimming with ideas that would give even an adult writer a challenge.
Maths has seen us mastering fractions (no small feat!), and with that confidence under our belts, we’ve moved on to multiplication and will soon be tackling long division. The determination and progress have been brilliant to watch.
Our history lessons have taken us back in time to explore the Magna Carta and the dramatic life of King Henry VIII - wives and all. The children have been captivated by the twists and turns of Tudor history.
In RE, this month has been especially meaningful. We’ve spent time reflecting on the life, faith, and love of Mary, appreciating her example and the values she inspires.
As always, Music and PE have brought energy, movement, and joy into our days - firm favourites among the children, and a wonderful way to learn through rhythm, teamwork, and play.
We’ve also enjoyed special moments like Green Day, where we thought deeply about how to care for our world. A highlight this past week was planting sunflowers with Ms Sophia - hands in the soil and smiles all around. Our class plant is growing beautifully, a little reminder of what care and patience can achieve.
As we head into the break, we wish you and your families a restful and happy half‑term. We look forward to welcoming everyone back soon for the final stretch of our Year 4 journey.
