Intent
At St Alban & St Stephen Catholic Primary School, our PE curriculum promotes physical health, confidence and well-being, recognising that each child is created in the image and likeness of God. We provide a broad range of sports and physical activities that encourage lifelong fitness, resilience and teamwork. Through competition, leadership opportunities and skill development, pupils grow in self-esteem and character, learning to handle both success and challenge while living out our values of faith, friendship, determination, respect and unity.
Implementation
PE is taught by our specialist sports coach alongside class teachers, ensuring high-quality provision across the school. Lessons are carefully sequenced, beginning with warm-ups and skill development, and provide opportunities to practise, apply, evaluate and improve performance. Pupils experience a wide range of activities, including competitive sport, leadership roles and swimming, with ongoing assessment informing progress. Enrichment through clubs, competitions and sports partnerships further enhances participation and enjoyment. Our innovative curriculum includes Drumba, a high-energy fitness program that blends P.E. and Music by combining aerobic exercise with drumming to create a full-body workout. Drumba is designed to be inclusive, improving physical fitness, mental wellbeing, and confidence through rhythmic movement.
Our P.E. curriculum is fully aligned with the National Curriculum and is designed to ensure all pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding outlined within it.
