This week in our art lesson, we created Ancient Egyptian–style cartouches. We had previously studied Egyptian hieroglyphs, so we were able to use our knowledge of these ancient symbols to write our own names or the names of Egyptian gods and goddesses inside the cartouches. We carefully planned our designs and sketched them in pencil before going over the lines with black pen. Finally, we added shading and detail to create a three-dimensional effect, bringing our cartouches to life and helping us appreciate the art and writing of Ancient Egypt.
