Spring Term Home Learning
Friday 15th January
Watch the video of Miss Ketley reading the story ‘Stop telling fibs!’ There are lots of rhyming pairs in this story can you spot them? The follow up activity is to pause on the last page of the story. There are some animals we didn’t meet in the story – can you spot which ones and what the rhyming pair is?
Watch the video attached to see the shape hunt Miss Ketley did outside!
To follow up, can you go on a shape hunt outside – what shapes can you find? (only if you are able)
Understanding the World – Exploring Texture/Scavenger Hunt!
In this video, Mr Miller explains the word ‘texture’ and explores different textures with you by making porridge. Feel free to make porridge along with the video so you can experience the changing textures as we go along! At the end of the video, we have set a scavenger hunt, which will involve you finding objects around your house that either have a different texture, smell or taste. Can you find an object for each texture? Use ‘Scavenger Hunt’ to document your findings!

Thursday 14th January
Today in PE we are going to play the Pirate Game, maybe you could dress up as a pirate and get into character. Enjoy the game and don’t forget to send me some photos of you taking part.
Today we’re going to do some music. It’s all about spiders, so you can make a spider to sing along with you if you like. You can see the one I have made in the video. I hope you enjoy the songs.
Have a lovely day,
From Mrs Flatt

Tuesday 12th January
Watch the video below of Miss Ketley playing a Silly Soup game
To follow up, try and complete this activity of Rhyming Pairs
Watch the video below for a shape matching activity. For the activity can you have a go at doing this at home? Really look at the number of sides and corners of the shapes as you will need that for tomorrow’s lesson.
Our topic this half term for PSED is ‘Dreams and Goals’.
This week, we are focusing on challenges and never giving up!
Can you try your hardest at a tricky activity – it could be making a tower out of playing cards, have a go at standing on a leg for a minute, make a tower out of just spaghetti and marshmallows or threading beads. Have a go and think how did you find the activity and did you give up? Maybe your mum, dad, brother or sister helped you and that’s ok if you had a go first!
Watch this video of the ‘Hare and the Tortoise’.
Did the tortoise give up? How do you think he felt after he achieved his goal?
A suggested activity is to listen to this song called ‘Never Give Up’.
It’s one of my favourites! Can you put your own actions to the song?
Another suggested activity is to make a super tricky obstacle course around the house (sorry parents) and have a go at completing it without giving up!
Have fun and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!”

Monday 11th January
Welcome to week 2 of online learning. We hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Watch one of the videos below to welcome in the week.
In Phonics this week we are still looking at phase 1 – aspect 4 but are moving on from Rhythm to Rhyme! We have been learning a new nursery rhyme every week and this week is no different. The one we are looking at today is ‘Humpty Dumpty’. Follow this link to listen to the Nursery Rhyme.
Follow the video below to see the breaking of poor Humpty Dumpty! The activity to follow is: can you make your own broken Humpty Dumpty and put him together again?
Listen to one of my favourite songs that you will be singing all day!!
Then follow this PPT Everyday 2d shapes on 2D shapes. Can you say how many sides there are? How many corners?
Parents: The topic we are focusing on this half term is Celebrations. The experience of community is an essential and enjoyable part of life for people of every age and faith. The cycle of a year and the span of a lifetime contain occasions for regular celebrations as well as unexpected surprises, when people want to celebrate with family, friends and communities.!
Follow this Celebrations PDF to look at different types of celebrations we might experience – can you think of any more? Can you upload pictures to Tapestry of when you last had a celebration?
Watch the following link for Maisy’s Birthday and think about the following questions.
1) How does Maisy get ready for her Birthday?
2) What do Maisy and her friends do to celebrate her special day?
Can you role play your own birthday party? Put some music on and play a game of musical statues – can you stay really still? Maybe have a go at making your own invitations?
