As we approach the end of Year 1, we have reflected this week on what we have enjoyed and what we have got better at.
The children really enjoyed the trips that we have been able to go on, to Clarence Park and Mead Open Farm. As well as the History Off the Page day, when Florence Nightingale visited us and taught us about what life was like in old hospitals in the Crimea War, before nurses like Florence Nightingale improved them.
They also loved the creative activities, such as when we made the hand-puppets and learnt to sew, when we were thinking of healthy food and made smoothies and when we made jam sandwiches to follow instructions. It was lovely to see the children’s ideas on what they felt they had improved during Year 1.
Year 1 enjoyed creating a picture of themselves and then writing what they were proud of.
We thank our two volunteer readers who have visited us every week this year; Mrs. O’Connor and Mrs. Telkman.
They have been so patient and caring and have said that all the Year 1 children have become confident and articulate readers.
Lastly, we wish to thank all the families for our wonderful ‘end of year’ gifts!!!
We are teachers because we love teaching, thank you for all your support because your child/children would not have made the progress that they have without us all working together.
Have a super summer holiday and we wish you all the very best in Year 2.
