Happy new year to all our pupils and their families.
It has been a very busy week introducing all the new topics to the children.
We started the week, celebrating Epiphany and then introduced the new RE topic – Galilee to Jerusalem. The children will learn that Jesus grew up in a loving family and then met some wonderful friends who He would later make His disciples. This week the children reenacted the presentation of Jesus at the Temple and the significant characters Simeon and Anna who prophesied that Jesus would be a saviour, all to be found in Luke’s Gospel. Do ask your child about the characters and how they praised Jesus.

In English, we have introduced our new study book: Meerkat Mail. We will be creating story-maps and postcards, as well as recognising the feelings of the main character.
In Maths we have been recognising: doubles, half of a given number, as well as odd and even numbers and the properties of these numbers.
In Geography, we have started out topic called Poles Apart. The children have identified the seven continents and what a continent is, as well as identifying countries that they have visited on holiday or when visiting family members.
In Science, we have started our Materials topic. This week we identified which material an object was created from.
In Computing, the children are learning about algorithms and the importance of giving and following instructions accurately.
In D&T we have started to learn how to thread a needle and create a running stitch.
All children have been to the Library this week for a new Library book and reading books have been issued today.
As well as all of the above, the children have enjoyed Music with Mrs. Flatt, learning about pitch; had two P.E. lessons, including our first Drumba session of the year and had Circle Time in PSHE, thinking about new year goals. I think all the children deserve a restful weekend.
