Year 1 have been extremely busy this week
In English, we started our new book – The Disgusting Sandwich. The children have been writing noun phrases, that included adjectives. They have been very creative!
In Maths, we have been finding half and a quarter of a quantity. The children used multilink cubes to help them find the amounts. They are getting so confident!
In Science and Geography, we have been continuing to learn about life cycles of animals and identifying different types of farms. This will prepare them for our farm trip next Thursday. The children know that they will be visiting a pastoral farm as it is a farm that farms animals.
In Computing, the children have been creating stories, ready to create them on the i-pads next week.
In RE, we learnt about the third element of the gift of the Holy Spirit – We read the Gospel according to John 3:8, it says, “The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” We then thought about this amazing gift that Jesus gave His Apostles. We thought it was important to share our gifts too. The children then shared the gift of the Holy Spirit with their friends, using straws and a feather. Lots of fun was had by all. We also had fun with the giant parachute during PE, thinking about the Holy Spirit moving like the wind.
Finally, we had the great opportunity to join Electric Umbrella for a live assembly. The children sung songs and learned how to sign the words using BSL .
Wishing you all a very happy weekend and we look forward to our trip next week!
