This week in Year 6, we have continued exploring the story of Hermelin, the detective mouse. The children took on the role of Hermelin and considered his feelings upon being invited to a party in his honour. They wrote and answered question intended to delve deeper into the character’s thoughts ahead of using this in their writing. The children enjoyed roleplaying as the mouse and even got to sport a pair of mouse ears while in character.
In Art, we continued to find inspiration in our Geography topic, Coasts. The children practiced different watercolour techniques and then considered how to best apply these to different aspects of the coastline. Over the next few weeks, they will use their paintings and sketchbooks to plan a final piece of coastal artwork.
Elsewhere this week:
- In Maths, we continued our work on Place Value with a focus on negative numbers, decimals and rounding.
- We explored how erosion causes natural coastlines to change, creating arches, caves and stacks in Geography.
- We started our new RE topic of Covenant & Creation, reading from Genesis and considering the symbolism within the second Creation story.
