It’s been a busy week in Year 6 as we finish our first half-term.
We began the week with a wonderful African Dance workshop to coincide with Black History Week. The children learned a dance and then performed as a year group to the rest of Key Stage 2. We have also spent time this week writing biographies of significant people in Black British History including Claudia Jones, the Mother of Notting Hill Carnival, and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen.
The children had a chance to use the French they had been learning this term to act out a French café scene, complete with gateau and pain au chocolat.
In Science this week, the children were learning about Fungi. They inspected some supermarket mushroom to investigate their features both inside and out. Then, ready to sit over half-term, they set up an experiment to investigate the growth of mould in different temperatures. We look forward to seeing the results once we return in November.
