Message from the Headteacher
We are delighted that you are considering making an application for your child to join our wonderful school. St Alban & St. Stephen Catholic Primary School is a very special place where our pupils are supported on their educational journey by a fantastic, committed teaching staff. I am so proud to be the Headteacher and I can promise you that your child will be cherished at our school.
Catholic life is at the heart of our school and our staff work hard to develop and support the faith of each child who attends. We place great importance on relationships and positive behaviour, encouraging respect, co-operation and consideration.
As a Catholic school, you will see that our admissions criteria prioritise children from practising Catholic families. As such, we require evidence of regular attendance at Mass, and being known to your priest. I would recommend that you discuss the certificate of Catholic practice with your parish priest, or the priest of the church you normally attend, at an early stage. St. Alban & St. Stephen Catholic Primary School is a popular school and we normally have to apply our oversubscription criteria.
Finally, I wanted to remind prospective parents that as part of our acceptance procedures you will be asked to sign an agreement with the school, agreeing to co-operate with the school in your child’s Catholic education. I look forward to welcoming you and your child to St Alban & St Stephen Catholic Primary School.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Moore
Headteacher

To apply for a Reception place, parents are requested to complete both the Hertfordshire online application form available at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/services/schools-and-education/school-admissions/school-admissions-and-transport.aspx. and our school’s Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which is available to download by clicking on the link below or from the School Office admin@ssas.herts.sch.uk.

St. Alban & St. Stephen Catholic Primary School Reception Admission Arrangements and Forms 2022-23
In-Year Admissions Reception – Year 6
Where there is no waiting list the Local Authority will be notified and the child will be admitted. If more applications are received than there are places available, then applications will be ranked by the governing body in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. We will write to you with the outcome of your application and, if you have been unsuccessful, the county council will write to you with registration details to enable you to login and appeal online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/schoolappeals. You will be offered the opportunity of being placed on a waiting list. This waiting list will be maintained by the governing body in the order of the oversubscription criteria and not in the order in which the applications are received. Names are removed from the list at the end of each academic year. When a place becomes available the governing body will re-rank the list and an offer will be made.”
