On Thursday 6th October, we celebrated National Poetry Day in Year 6. The theme this year was Play. We read the poem Skateboarding by Joseph Coelho as inspiration for our own play-themed poetry. We also reviewed the different kinds of poetry we had come across in previous years including cinquain and acrostic.
The children wrote a variety of poems about play, what they personally liked to play and their hobbies.
Elsewhere this week:
- In RE, we have explored The Fall and how Original Sin impacted Adam and Eve’s relationships with each other, with God, and with creation.
- In Maths, we have worked on strategies for problem solving including visualising problems using bar models, working backwards and finding a starting point.
- We have started out new writing unit focused on Biographies. We read part My Life with Chimpanzees, which is an autobiography by Jane Goodall.
- We continued to prepare for our Isle of Wight Assembly,
