🌟 Year 2 Advent UpdateÂ
What a wonderful start we’ve had to the Advent season in Year 2! This week, the children have been learning all about the first week of Advent and how Christians prepare for the arrival of Jesus. We’ve been exploring the themes of hope and joyful expectation, and the class has really embraced the meaning behind this special time of year.
The children have been busy creating their own Advent candles, each one symbolising hope and helping us remember the prophet who foretold Jesus’s arrival. Alongside this, they have been writing beautiful messages of hope and carefully placing them on our class prayer table. We’ve also spent time writing prayers of thanks and making pledges to God about the ways we will help others this season—spreading the light of Christmas just like each candle on the Advent wreath.
This week, we were lucky enough to attend a lovely assembly led by Mrs. Hackett, where the children learned more about the magic of Advent and Christmas. Their excitement and curiosity were wonderful to see!
Our classroom is looking extra festive too. Our Christmas tree is now sparkling with the children’s decorations brought in from home—each one adding its own special touch. Our RE table has also come to life with figures that the children can use to re-enact the Nativity story, helping them deepen their understanding through play and storytelling.
Finally, we’ve begun our class Advent tradition: each day, the children are working hard to earn a small treat at the end of the day—a little reward for their kindness, effort, and teamwork during this special season.
We hope the children have been sharing some of the Advent excitement with you at home. We’re looking forward to a joyful and reflective journey through the coming weeks.
Wishing you all a peaceful and hope-filled start to Advent. 🌟
