🌟 Year 2 Weekly Round-Up: Rehearsals, Reading & Remarkable DT! 🌟
What an exciting week it has been in Year 2! The classroom has been buzzing with creativity, curiosity, and just a little bit of secretive whispering as we dive deeper into our festive activities.
🎠Shhh… Rehearsals in Progress!
Our Christmas play rehearsals are now in full swing, and the children have been working incredibly hard. Lines are being learned, songs are being practised, and costumes are slowly coming together. There’s a wonderful sense of teamwork as everyone supports one another—though we can’t reveal too much just yet! The children are doing a brilliant job keeping the details under wraps, adding to the excitement for the big performance day.
📚 A New Story: The Christmas Eve Tree
This week we also began exploring our new story book, The Christmas Eve Tree. The children have loved diving into this gentle, atmospheric tale and discovering new vocabulary along the way. Words like “companion,” “folk,” and “busker” have sparked fantastic discussions in class, helping us all to grow our language skills while building a deeper understanding of the story’s meaning and message.
🛠️ Ferris Wheels in DT!
In Design and Technology, Year 2 have taken on the exciting challenge of creating their very own Ferris wheels. Using a mix of card, milk bottles (kindly collected by the parents), and plenty of imagination, the children have been learning new skills such as strengthening structures, using axles, and planning a design before building it. Watching their Ferris wheels come to life has been a highlight of the week—each one unique, colourful, and cleverly engineered.
✨ A Fantastic Week All Round
We are so proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and creativity the children have shown. With new vocabulary mastered, Ferris wheels spinning, and our secret rehearsals well underway, it’s safe to say Year 2 are heading into the festive season full of energy and excitement.
We can’t wait to share more of our advent activities next week
