We hope you had a lovely half term! It’s been wonderful to welcome all our Reception children back to school, full of energy and excitement for the new half term. The children have really enjoyed exploring the new resources in our learning environment, especially in the water play area, where they’ve been experimenting and having lots of fun. The dinosaurs and fairy garden have also been a big hit, inspiring imaginative play.
This week, we have been learning all about The Annunciation. The children listened carefully to the story of Angel Gabriel visiting Mary, and we talked about how Mary said “yes” to God. Everyone then made their own beautiful Angels, using a range of materials to design sparkling wings and bright halos.
We have also been finding out about Guy Fawkes and why we celebrate Bonfire Night. The children had a fantastic time creating their own firework pictures using paint, flicking, dabbing, and swirling colours to make bright, explosive displays. Out in the sand, we have been practising our mark making, using paintbrushes and fingers to make fireworks and patterns. Together, we created a wonderful firework poem, filled with bangs, fizzles, and whooshes!
In Show and Tell this week the children have loved listening to one another share their thoughts, ideas, and questions. It’s been lovely to see how confident and caring everyone has been during these sessions.
It has been a busy and exciting start to the half term, and we are so proud of how the children are settling back into their routines and engaging with all of our new learning.
Well done, Reception, what a fantastic week!
