What an exciting and meaningful week we’ve had in Year 2! This week’s focus was all about friendship, kindness, and—most importantly—Anti-Bullying Week. Our theme, “Power for good,” inspired plenty of thoughtful conversations, creative activities, and moments that really made us proud of our young learners.
Odd Socks Day & Our Special Assembly
Odd Socks Day! Children (and staff!) arrived at school wearing their brightest, most mismatched socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.
We also enjoyed a whole-school Anti-Bullying Assembly, where the children learned about what bullying is, how it can make people feel, and what we can all do to stand up for others. The assembly highlighted courage, kindness, and the power of speaking up.
Design Your Own Odd Socks Competition
In Year 2, one of the children’s favourite activities was our “Design Your Own Odd Socks” competition. The pupils loved letting their imaginations run wild—stripes, spots, rainbows, animals, glitter, and even food-themed socks!
Everyone put in fantastic effort, and choosing a winner was almost impossible. Congratulations to our lucky winners, who received real pairs of odd socks as their prize!
Classroom Discussions & Activities
Throughout the week, we had lots of age-appropriate discussions about:
-
What bullying means
-
How to be a good friend
-
How to notice when someone might need help
-
What to do if we or someone else feels upset
-
The importance of being kind—even in small ways
The children shared some brilliant ideas and showed such maturity and empathy. We also used stories, role-play, and circle time to explore different scenarios and build confidence in speaking out.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 2 children. They have shown understanding, creativity, and a real commitment to making our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone. Thank you for your continued support at home—we truly appreciate it.
Here’s to a positive, kind, and confident Year 2!
