This week in Year 6, we spoke about the Children’s Mental Health Week theme of ‘I Belong’. We had a special Circle Time where we spoke about places that we feel we belong and why. We considered how we can help others feel they belong and why it is so important for our wellbeing to have a sense of belonging.
In line with this theme, we designed a Year 6 Island with each child designing a symbol, showing all of the things that make us unique.

Finally, we had a special Computing lesson about misinformation online. We discussed fake news, AI-generated images and videos, and social media rumours. We learned about why misinformation is spread and how those spreading it often do not realise that what they are sharing is false.
Elsewhere in Year 6 this week:
- In Geography, we have started our new topic on Climate Change, investigating how our planet is split into various different climate zones.

- In English, we have been preparing a chase scene based on our class book, Cogheart. The children have considered how to add tension to their stories using short and long sentences, powerful verbs and onomatopoeia.
- We have explored basic formulae in Maths, learning about the Order of Operations and dipping our toes into algebra for the first time.
- In RE, we have continued to explore the Signs of John’s Gospel, this week focusing on Jesus’ healing miracles.
