This week we had a wonderful time celebrating Mental Health and Wellbeing Week, filled with fun, learning, and meaningful moments that supported the children’s emotional wellbeing.
We began the week with a special circle time all about belonging. The children sat together and talked about what makes them special and how everyone belongs in our nursery. Each child decorated a piece of a large puzzle that represented them. Every piece was different, using their own colours, patterns, and ideas. When all the pieces were put together, the children could see how being unique and celebrating our differences helps us create something beautiful together.
We explored Science through a simple and exciting experiment, melting an ice cube in our hands. The children talked about how it felt cold and noticed how it slowly turned into water. This hands-on activity encouraged curiosity, new vocabulary, and confidence in exploring the world around them.
In Maths, the children became shape detectives, searching around the nursery to find different shapes such as circles, squares, and triangles. They proudly shared their discoveries and built their problem-solving skills.
A very special highlight was our first visit to the Library, where the children explored books, listened to a story, and learned how to care for books. This calm and enjoyable visit supported a love of reading and quiet reflection. Everyone went home with a new book to share with their families.
Mental Health and Wellbeing Week reminded us how important it is to help children feel valued, included, and proud of who they are. We are so proud of all the children for taking part and supporting one another.
