This week in Reception, our theme has been growing and changing, inspired by the lovely story Once We Were Giants. The children have been learning about how we all grow from babies to toddlers and then into the brilliant 4- and 5-year-olds they are today.
A real highlight was sharing our baby photos! The children turned these into creative “Guess Who?” books, which led to lots of special and thoughtful discussions. These special books are now proudly displayed in the classroom for everyone to enjoy.
We also practised our cutting and sequencing skills by ordering a human growth timeline, from babies, through childhood, and into adulthood and old age.
In PE, we’ve been expressing ourselves through dance, bringing the story of The Three Little Pigs to life with movement and music.
In RE, we talked about ways we can care for God’s wonderful world. The children were full of ideas and have even started recycling in class to help protect the planet.
