On Thursday 2nd October, Year 5 took part in the celebrations for National Poetry Day. Each year the event has a different theme, and this year’s theme was “Play.”
To mark the day, we had great fun playing with words and meanings by exploring reverse poems. These are amazing poems where, if you read them downwards, they can sound sad or negative, but if you read them upwards, the meaning flips to become happy and full of hope!
We looked closely at how these poems are structured and then the children came up with their own wonderful ideas, writing poems about play in all its different forms.
Take a look at some of our wonderful creations – aren’t they amazing?
