This week, Year 5 had a tree-mendous opportunity to work with Miss Sophia, our wonderful Environmental Tutor!
Ahead of National Tree Week, celebrated across the UK in November, children ventured outdoors to explore the trees growing around our school grounds. Using identification sheets, they matched leaves to trees, discovering an impressive variety including beech, rowan, sycamore, oak, horse chestnut and birch!
To make the experience even more memorable, children tried their hand at natural printing. With a gentle tap of a hammer, they transferred the pigments from fresh leaves onto fabric, creating stunning botanical prints to take home.
A huge thank you to Miss Sophia for sharing her time and expertise, and for helping our Year 5s appreciate the beauty and importance of the trees all around us!
