🌟 Welcome Back to Year 2! 🌟
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a summer filled with many wonderful and memorable experiences. It’s been such a joy to hear the children sharing stories about brilliant trips to parks, exciting places they visited, and special time spent with family members. These conversations have helped create a warm, welcoming atmosphere as we settle into the new school year.
🌈 A Wonderful Start
We’re delighted to let you know that the children have made a fantastic start to Year 2. They’ve returned to school full of energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm — and we hope you feel as proud of them as we do. From their positive attitudes to their thoughtful contributions in class, it’s already shaping up to be a great year.
Our first two days together have been packed with fun and meaningful activities, many of which focused on faith, values, and understanding rules and responsibilities. These early experiences are important as they help set the tone for a respectful, caring classroom where everyone feels safe and valued.
🙏 Learning About Faith and Values
Last week, the children:
-
Reflected on our school prayer and explored the meaning behind each part.
-
Discussed the importance of our school values and why rules help us to live, work, and learn together happily.
-
Learned about saints, focusing on our House saints — St Theresa, St Bernadette, St Paul, and St Peter — and discovered what made their lives so special and inspiring.
These early lessons have helped to deepen the children’s understanding of how our values shape our school community.
This week; so far, the children:
- Been working how to present our Maths work and sequencing numbers to 20.
- Been introduced to our English topic book, Paddington.
- revises all our Phonemes in Phonics
- Discussed the internet and how to stay safe online.
Al we still have four days to go.
✍️ Getting Ready to Write
We’ve also begun some important work on handwriting. The children are focusing on developing a good pencil grip and improving letter formation — laying the foundation for clear and confident writing throughout the year.
📚 A Few Practical Notes
-
Homework will begin this week
-
Reading books and reading records will also be sent home during that week.
-
We will soon begin using our school library, and if your child has a book from home they’d like to bring in, they’re welcome to label it and read it during school time.
🤝 Thank You
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we begin this exciting new chapter. We’re really looking forward to working together to make this a happy, successful, and memorable year for your child.
As always, if you have any questions or would like to speak with us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
With warm wishes,
The Year 2 Team
