To bring our History topic, ‘Life in the Past’, to a wonderful conclusion, we invited Grandparents into school today to talk to them about their memories of being a child at school. They had so many different experiences, one lived in Jersey, one in Norfolk, two went to an inner city London school, another was at school in Libya and one had a father in the RAF and went to many different schools abroad and sometimes travelled to school in a jeep!
We prepared questions and interviewed them about their favourite memory, friend and teacher.
There were a few surprises, such as the games they played, consequences for not following the school rules and how different the classrooms were.
Although the grandparents had some very happy memories to share, school life seemed much stricter and there seemed to be a lot more work and very little play!
We all decided that school today was much better and so much more fun. The children like seeing their own work displayed in the classroom, such as writing and painting examples, as well as having resources to help them to write, draw, carry out experiments and all the P.E. equipment and toys in the playground.
Thank you so much for coming into our school today and sharing your photographs, ink pens, reading books, memories and toilet paper!!!
We wish all our families a very restful weekend and we look forward to enjoying our final week together in Year 1!
