We can hardly believe it – there’s only one week of school left! What a fantastic, action-packed week we’ve had in Year 2. Our clever, hardworking children have blown us away with their learning, energy and enthusiasm.
In Maths, we’ve been diving deep into multiplication, division, and even fractions! Yes – fractions! The children have shown incredible focus and determination as they’ve tackled these tricky topics with confidence and skill. We are so proud of their efforts and progress.
In RE and Catholic Social Teaching, we’ve reflected on the important events of The Ascension and Pentecost, and have also been learning about Mary, as May is the month dedicated to her. The children have shown great reverence and understanding, and it’s been lovely to see them engage so thoughtfully with these special moments in our faith.
We’ve also wrapped up our exciting theme on sharks, and what a fin–tastic way to finish – with the children writing their very own non-chronological reports on a variety of sharks. From whale sharks to Greenland sharks to great whites, we were amazed at how eloquently and informatively the children could write. Their vocabulary and organisation really impressed us – we think we have some future marine biologists and authors in our midst!
Our new English focus stays under the sea, but with a beautiful new perspective. We’ve started reading “Julian is a Mermaid” by Jessica Love – a heartwarming story that explores imagination, identity and acceptance. The children are already loving the story, and we can’t wait to see where their writing takes them next.
In Geography, our oceans theme continues to make waves in the classroom, and we’ve still managed to squeeze in PE, Computing, DT, and Music – making every day full of fun, learning and creativity.
And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, we even had a special online assembly this morning hosted by the amazing Electric Umbrella – the inspiring group who recently received Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent! It was a joyful, uplifting session that reminded us of the power of music and inclusion. We’re especially proud to say that one of our very own Year 2 parents is an active member of this wonderful organisation. We’re so proud of everything our wonderful Year 2 children have achieved this term.
