Today we had lovely weather for a lovely Sports Day! It started off with the field events which included the tug of war and the sack race. This was followed by the sprints which consisted of the individual 60m and a relay race which the children thoroughly enjoyed, especially as no one dropped the baton! Next, on the basketball court was the shot put and the egg and spoon race which actually turned out to be a tennis ball on a tennis racquet! On the top playground the children had great fun throwing foam javelins as far as they could and pitting their skills against each other by throwing a bean bag into a hoop to score points.
After an exciting but exhausting morning of competing in many events, the children were able to sit down and watch the adults having a go and cheering them on. At last, the results were announced with St Paul the winners of Sports Day. Well done St Paul!! And well done to all the children in all year groups who did their best and competed with great sportsmanship and encouragement to others. It was a lovely sports day!
