This week in Year 6, the children have started a new unit of work in English based on Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” In order to help everyone understand the temperament of Scrooge and Marley (and as an oracy exercise) the children acted out what the two characters might say to each other. Using inference skills, the children explored how Scrooge shows himself to be grumpy, mean and uncharitable.
In art, and linked to our history project on the kingdom of Benin, the children have begun work on their African masks. Watch this space for more details as the masks start to take shape!
We have all been enjoying rehearsing our songs for our Carol Service in a couple of weeks. It is starting to feel a lot like Christmas….!
