This week has been a warm and wonderful week in which we have learned a great deal about our value: To look after the environment.
We learnt about how Pope Francis had a particular interest in looking after our world, culminating in the writing of the Laudato si’.
On Green Day, the children participated in a wide variety of activities including decorating a stick with natural items to show the different colours found in nature, making rubbings using leaves, creating a fatty. food ball for birds and decorating stones to brighten up our garden.
In P.E. we tried many games that were new to us and involved teamwork to be successful.
In maths, our focus has been on telling the time both in words and in digits. The goal is to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes. A link is here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zhk82hv/articles/zmbt2v4
Next week, we move on to word problems that involve addition and subtraction.
In R.E. we have been learning about rules and why we have them. We focussed o our school rules and why they are valuable.
We attended the Year 3 assembly in which we learnt about the history of our school. It was amazing to learn about the contributions of the Sisters of Mercy. it was useful to see what is expected from a Year 3 child.
In art, we began to learn about the artist: Georgia O’Keefe. We began to draw flowers and shade using a variety of techniques such as stippling, hatching and cross hatching. We are building up to learning to draw and paint orchids. This has a strong-cross curricular link with our local history topic.
