It’s hard to believe that we are already in the last half-term of the school year! Looking back, it’s both encouraging and heart-warming to see how far the children have come since they started Year 2. Their progress has been amazing, especially in English where their diary entries this past week, inspired by our theme book Julian is a Mermaid, have truly blown us away. The creativity, emotion, and attention to detail in their writing has made us so proud.
In Science, we explored how to stay safe and hygienic in the kitchen – important life skills! The children shared thoughtful ideas and showed real understanding of how to look after themselves and others when preparing meals. In Maths, we’ve been exploring the world of equivalent fractions, deepening our understanding through practical activities and problem solving. Meanwhile, History took us on a journey into the remarkable life of Frederick Sander, St Alban’s very own ‘Orchid King’. His passion for plants, orchids especially, has left a lasting legacy.
In Design Technology, we wrapped up our work on mechanisms with the most delightful dragons. There were moving parts, bright colours, and plenty of smiles as we brought our ideas to life.
RE this term focused on the wonder of the Holy Spirit as our helper in spreading the Good News. The children showed great thought and care as they discussed how the Holy Spirit guides us.
We also enjoyed joyful music sessions (playing a variety of instruments), exciting team games, and energetic athletics in PE – so much fun and plenty of opportunities to shine!
A huge thank you to our precious little ones for their hard work, determination, and cheerful attitudes throughout the year. You’ve made us proud.
